The CVRD operates the Shawnigan Lake North Water System, which is located approximately two kilometres west of the Village of Shawnigan Lake. The water system services approximately 633 single-family dwellings, a condominium complex, and an elementary school. In 2007 the Ingot Road subdivision brought a new water treatment building, one groundwater supply well, and a 100,000-gallon reservoir to the Shawnigan Lake North Water System.

There are two above-grade water storage reservoirs for the Shawnigan Lake North Water System. Both are located at the end of Gregory Road. The original concrete rectangular reservoir has a holding capacity of 165,000 gallons and the other is a circular steel-bolted structure and has a holding capacity of 100,000 gallons.
The distribution system is comprised of 200-mm, 150-mm, 100-mm, and 50-mm diameter pipe, which is mostly PVC and AC. There are approximately 18,070 metres of pipe in the distribution system and 41 hydrants.
As part of the maintenance program for the water system the distribution system is flushed on an annual basis, typically in the spring, and the hydrants and valves are regularly maintained.
