Tales from the Roadshow
|
|
Tales from The Roadshow is a unique stage show about BBC TV’s highly successful and long-running series, the Antiques Roadshow, presented by two of its most popular experts – Hilary Kay and Paul Atterbury.
Hilary and Paul take theatre audiences on an irreverent, but affectionate, tour through life on the filming circuit. As the Roadshow enjoys its 32nd season, they are ready to spill the beans on this much loved, TV favourite.
“When you see a finished programme, it is like an iceberg”, says Hilary, “much more goes on under the surface then above. Paul and I will be shining a light on what lies beneath.”
Tales from The Roadshow offers an insider’s view of what happens to bring the Roadshow to the screen:-
“When we arrive at a location to film, there’s a wonderful atmosphere of anticipation”, says Hilary. “The experts get as excited as the general public at the thought of making that special discovery. Between us, we will see perhaps ten thousand items in a day and everyone is searching for the 30 or so notable objects that will eventually be filmed.”
Tales from The Roadshow allows Paul and Hilary the perfect opportunity to share with theatre audiences what they enjoy doing most, and to present some of their favourite stories and most memorable experiences from working on both sides of the TV cameras, including priceless film clips – some definitely unsuitable for broadcasting.
“We shall be exposing some of the experts’ hilarious exploits”, says Paul, “and also revealing who has broken what over the years”.
“And to prove that it’s not just the experts who can have a bad day”, adds Hilary, “we shall be sharing some of the spontaneous reactions and unexpected antics of the general public too.”
Tales from the Roadshow, was created by Hilary and Paul and has played to packed houses in Australia, New Zealand, around Britain and now Canadian audiences have an opportunity to join in the fun.
