The Map above illustrates the plan area with respect to the Sahtlam Local Area Plan - these locations include:
North of the Cowichan River
South of Highway 18 – except for the Industrially designated parcel near Paldi
East of the Cowichan Koksilah OCP Area boundary
West of the North Cowichan boundary
What is this about? Why is plan for Sahtlam needed?
As part of the Cowichan Koksilah Official Community Plan process, the CVRD proposes to develop a local area plan for the Sahtlam area, to address specific land use policy and regulatory issues for the area, which includes Paldi. (See map.)
Jurisdictionally Sahtlam is split with half in each of Electoral Areas E and F. But the residents of Sahtlam see themselves as part of a unified rural community, united by more than what divides them. At a minimum the two halves of the community share a similar ecology, similar types of rural residential development, and a volunteer fire department.
