The environment is not just a place we visit on the weekends. The environment is where we are every day and all the things that make life as abundant as we know it. From the water that brews our morning coffee, to materials used to build our house, the environment provides us with all the goods and services we need to live life and live it well.
The Environmental Services Division is responsible for a variety of programs and initiatives including:
Development of watershed management plans and other long range plans (watershed planning, liquid waste plans) with the goal of protecting water resources
response to climate change impacts (risk assessments, adaptation strategies)
hazard analysis (flood management - diking, sediment removal, preparation), steep slopes and other changing attributes of our region's landscape affecting communities.
working with a wide variety of partners to protect environmental resources and values in the Cowichan Valley (air quality, ecosystems, and species at risk)
