Arbutus Ridge sewer system is located within the Arbutus Ridge Retirement community, in Area C, and services this residential development of 646 properties, a small commercial block and a golf course.
The system consists of a gravity sewer collection system, three pump stations, and two Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) treatment plants that produce Class C effluent. The effluent is pumped from the treatment plant to two ground disposal fields located at Fairways 2 and 3.
Critical equipment is monitored 24-hours a day for malfunctions (such as pump failures) and if such an abnormality occurs an alarm is send to the on-duty pager to alert CVRD-staff for immediate response.
Due to the failing disposal fields (treated sewage surfacing to the ground) a project is currently underway for proposed upgrades to the sewer system. To learn more about the upgrade project click here

User fees are incorporated into the monthly strata bills and there is no parcel tax. The annual user fee for 2017 is $400.60 per property.
